In the MX3 World Championship, runner up Yves Demaria is closing in on current leader Sven Breugelmans thanks to today’s victory of round six of the series.
In Alhama de Murcia, Spain, Yves Demaria had no moto victories, but was the most consistent rider on the track today, with two second place finishes.
Spaniard Alvaro Lozano was second overall, but was aiming at a victory on his home track. He only came close to that dream, by winning the opening moto.
Martin Zerava was third on the podium, with a fifth and a third place in the two heats, but he finished level on points with Christophe Martin.
Belgian Kristof Salaets completed the top five, ahead of series leader Sven Breugelmans. Benjamin Coisy won the final moto, but scored no points in the opening heat.
In the UEM European Motocross Championship, Khounsith Vongsana came back to victory with two back to back moto wins. The young Frenchman left countrymen Marvin Musquin and Gautier Paulin second and third on the podium.
In the first moto Musquin was second, and hopeful for the final heat, where he got only a sixth place finish. Paulin Gautier instead was fifth and fourth, riding with consistency despite having grabbed the pole yesterday.
Deny Philippaerts did not lose many points in the standings by finishing fourth overall, but he lost the lead by one point.
The new leader is now Vongsana.
The next round will be held in Markelo, Holland, on July 1.
