Suzuki’s Ricky Carmichael won his first Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP race of the season at B.C. Place Stadium and moves into the points lead. Honda’s Ryan Sipes won his first-ever Amp’d Mobile Supercross Lites main event.
Kawasaki’s Stewart earned the $1,500 Progress Direct Holeshot Award with Suzuki’s Michael Byrne in second and Carmichael in third. Yamaha’s Chad Reed, who came into tonight’s race with the points lead, started in fifth.
On lap 2 Carmichael moved into second place and started to reel in Stewart while Reed secured third place. Carmichael passed Stewart on lap 16 and held on for the win. Stewart finished second and Reed finished third.
“When you get out there and the adrenaline gets pumping it’s so fun,” said Carmichael. “I give James credit because he’s hurt and gave it his all. I will take the win if I can. I am leaving with the points lead, and I am excited to race in Anaheim.”
“I pulled the holeshot, so I was pumped,” said Stewart. “I didn’t ride all week because my foot is so sore. We are here to win a championship. I told my team and my family that I would never quit on them.”
Honda’s Ryan Sipes earned the $1,000 Progressive Direct Holeshot Award, but was quickly passed by KTM’s Michael Willard on the opening lap in AMA Supercross Lites competition. The next lap, Sipes moved into the lead with last weekend’s winner Martin Davalos in second.
Suzuki’s Ryan Dundy, in his first-ever Amp’d Mobile Supercross Lites race, passed Davalos on lap six for second place. Dungy chased Sipes for the remainder of the finale and finished second.
“I felt great off the start,” said Dundy. “I was smooth and control throughout the race, and I have worked my whole life to get here.
Sipes led all 15 laps en route to victory.
“I got tangled after the first part of the race and fell into second place,” said Sipes. “I was able to get back into the lead, and I am very happy.”
